Fugitive for the Lord: The Isaac Kaufman Story

Set in Switzerland, 1694–1737, the story follows Isaac Kaufman, a leader in the early Amish Church, who, because of his Anabaptist preaching, was forced to hide in the Alpine uplands to evade arrest by the State Church authorities. Separated from his family, Isaac risks his safety to support his fellow believers, while staying just a step ahead of his pursuers.

When captured, he was thrown into a castle dungeon where he languished for several years. When he continued to refuse to recant his faith, he was exiled to Amsterdam, sentenced to life as a galley slave on a Dutch East India Company ship bound for Indonesia.
